Springbrook National Park
With 32 hiking trails, running trails, forest trails and more, Springbrook has a walk suitable for all levels of fitness. Purling Brook Falls is a short and scenic 4 km walk the whole family can do. Time your hike after heavy rain and you’ll truly experience the power of the 100m falls. The Natural Bridge Circuit is an even shorter walk—only 1 km—but equally picturesque as you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful view of the natural bridge cave which comes alive at night with glow worms. For those looking for a bit more of a challenge, the Springbrook Pinnacle Loop is a 14.5 km trek that will require some rock scrambling and steep sections which’ll get the heart rate up. It’ll all be worth it when you reach the top with those incredible views.
Tamborine National Park
Venture through lush green rainforest and breathe in that fresh mountain air; Tamborine Mountain has several incredible and enchanting walking trails that are perfect if you’re looking to take a slower stroll. For those on a tight schedule and don’t have time to tackle all the tracks, be sure to do the Curtis Falls and Joalah Lower Creek Circuit… you may even spot a platypus or two! Or take on the Palm Grove and Jenyns Circuit where you’ll discover the distinctive piccabeen palms, strangler figs and buttressed yellow carabeens in the Palm Grove section, and drier eucalypt forest of Jenyns Circuit.
Gold Coast Hinterland great walk
Looking to truly disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature? Listed as one of 10 great walks in Queensland, The Gold Coast Hinterland great walk is a 54 km trail that ticks all the boxes. This one is for the more adventurous walkers though and will require at least three days to conquer. There are designated camping sites along the track so pack your food, water and camping gear! Linking some of the day hikes in Lamington and Springbrook national parks, you will follow in the footsteps of the Yugambah people through the ancient Gondwana Rainforests, walk along a historical volcano, and get up close and personal with the diverse flora and fauna.
