8 things to do in and around Palm Beach

Fjd 0285

Thrice crowned Queensland’s cleanest beach, Palm Beach, or “Palmy” as it’s known to the locals has come a long way from being a dream holiday destination to a much sought-after beachside suburb to live. Mater Prize Home No. 293 is making it possible for one lucky winner to win a luxury beachside penthouse in this stunning part of the Gold Coast. Discover the benefits of our stunning beachside penthouse here. Surrounded by beautiful natural sites and scenery, and new developments with an emerging dining scene, it’s no wonder more people are wanting to call Palm Beach home.

Currumbin Creek

1. The Currumbin Creek Walking Trail

Start at Tarrabora Reserve, situated between Currumbin Creek and Palm Beach. Take the winding wooden boardwalk through bushland, wetlands and mangroves where you’ll spot some of the local wildlife. It’s a peaceful and relaxing walking trail despite being so close to the beach. The main circuit is approximately a 4km round-trip, however, if you’re after a longer trek, you can continue to Currumbin Beach and Lion Rock; about 7km round-trip.

Kids' Party

2. Laguna Park

Arguably one of the best playgrounds on the Gold Coast, Laguna Park is a great place suitable for kids, tweens, family picnics and birthday parties. Kids will absolutely love the array of interactive and fun play equipment, including a monorail pedal train. The BBQ facilities and shaded picnic benches make for the perfect outdoor gathering or birthday party with friends and family. These get snapped up quickly–especially on weekends–so you’ll have to get in early.

Tallebudgera

3. Tallebudgera Creek

It’s not surprising that the name of this popular fishing hole means “good fish”. Tallebudgera is an Aboriginal word stemming from talle meaning fish and budgerie meaning good. Known for its calm sparkling waters, Tallebudgera Creek is a much-loved spot not only for fishing, but swimming, picnicking, camping, kayaking, and stand up paddle-boarding. There’s an off-leash area at the northern end of Tallebudgera Beach so you don’t have to feel guilty about leaving your furry four-legged friend at home.

Farmer's Markets

4. Palm Beach Farmer’s Market

Held every Saturday at Palm Beach Currumbin State High School, the Palm Beach Farmer’s Market is the place to stock up on some of the freshest produce on the Coast. Skip brekky at home and head to one of the food stalls serving up fine food and specialty coffee, with plenty of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. With around 80 stallholders, we guarantee you won’t leave empty-handed!

Brewery

5. Visit a brewery (or two, or three…)

To say the Gold Coast craft beer scene is booming is an understatement. With so many local breweries to choose from offering some of the best liquid gold in Queensland, you better hop (pun intended) to it! Why not start off with Black Hops Brewery, Lost Palms Brewing Co., or Balter Brewing Company? All are within 10 minutes from Palm Beach.

Whiskey

6. The Scottish Prince

If whiskey is more your tipple of choice, The Scottish Prince has you covered. You will be spoilt for choice with over 150 bottles from across the globe lining the wall behind the bar. Make a night of it and dine from its expansive menu of classic British pub food with a contemporary Gold Coast twist.

7. The Collective

Arriving on the Gold Coast dining scene in late 2016, The Collective quickly cemented itself as a foodie’s paradise. It features five restaurants, a bar, plus a rooftop bar and eatery; the latter of which serves up delicious drinks and spectacular sunset views over the hinterland. If you’re an indecisive diner, The Collective doesn’t make it any easier with menus for American, Italian, Greek, Mexican and Asian cuisine.

Macrame

8. The Craft Parlour

Get crafty and release your inner creativity at one of The Craft Parlour’s workshops. From candle making to kokedama or paint and sip classes to making earrings, there’s a course for everyone, including the kids! The brainchild of Gold Coast local, Rachel Valentine, The Craft Parlour was created as a creative space for the community to connect and challenge people to step outside of their comfort zone. Good to know: The Craft Parlour also offer private functions for bridal showers, hens, and birthdays.
