Every year, Mater Foundation relies on the generosity of supporters like you to help fund patient care at Mater hospitals and provide invaluable funding to Mater Research.

:Giving exceptional healthcare to nearly half a million people each year requires a special type of team effort from all areas of the community—from medical and clinical researchers to doctors and nurses and generous supporters like you.

In 2015, Mater Foundation was able to provide Mater Research with $10.46 million in funding. Funding that has gone towards medical and clinical research to help treat, and ultimately prevent, and range of diseases including various cancers.

Did you know…

• Currently, 1 in 2 Australian men and 1 in 3 Australian women will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85
• 18,138 males is the estimated number of new prostate cancer cases diagnosed in Australia this year
• 12.8% of male deaths will be caused by cancer this year
• Last year, almost 6000 people with cancer were treated at Mater

Mater has bold plans to include even more services and support for people living with cancer and their families in the future. And with your help, we won’t stop there. Our team of scientific and clinical researchers at Mater Research are determined to find improved ways to diagnose treat and ultimately, prevent cancer.
