HSV makes a statement with the Clubsport R8 LSA

It’s no secret, we’ve been a fan of the Clubsport R8 for a long time, but HSV have just changed the game by giving the R8 the outrageous 6.2L supercharged V8 LSA engine.

HSV have decided to do something truly special by giving the Clubsport R8 the same earth shattering donk that the flagship GTS enjoys.

We’re talking serious performance here—a 6.2L supercharged V8, 400kW, 671Nm powerhouse that will propel the lucky driver to 100km/h in just 4.4 seconds according to the review by the team at drive.com.au (check the full article here).

The R8 LSA is still 30kW behind its big brother the GTS, but when you’re getting into the 400kW range, does it really matter?

To help you control this beast, the R8 LSA features a 4-piston brake package which was developed using NASCAR and V8 Supercar technologies, Continental tyres custom tuned for the HSV range and all the expected options in a car in this price range including but not limited to ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Electronic Brake Assist (EBA).

The R8 LSA will be a fitting swansong to the Clubsport line as HSV moves into a new era with the move of Holden to overseas manufacturing and the last of the great Aussie Commodores.

One thing is for certain—this model will be a collector’s edition whether you’re a fan or not.
