If you believe good work should be rewarded, I’m sure you would say that the latest Mater Prize Home winner, Robyn, was overdue for something good.

Robyn has dedicated twenty years of her life working as a Special Learning Officer in a dedicated special needs school. She’s spent two decades helping those less fortunate than her, and although it was challenging at times, Robyn powered on.

When Robyn received the lucky call from Mater Lotteries’ Executive Director Bruce Dennehy, telling her that she had won Mater Prize Home lottery No. 260, her husband told her to hang up because it was just another scam. In fact, she had won a beautiful canal-front home on the Sunshine Coast PLUS a chic inner city apartment in Sydney valued at over $2 million.

At the time of the Mater Prize Home lottery No. 260 draw, Robyn was starting to consider retirement and this amazing prize was the perfect cue to hand in her resignation.

She announced the news on Facebook to her family and friends and took a few days off to soak it in, all the while looking at her husband and asking ‘Is this real? Is this bubble going to burst?’

When they finally accepted that their lives had changed forever, they went around to their son’s house which turned into an impromptu party with friends and family.

Although they were celebrating, the feeling of whether they had actually won or not wouldn’t leave until Robyn had the keys in her hands.

“I have always had a strong spiritual connection with a particular clairvoyant, who told me three times over 10 years that I would win a major prize. I was starting to doubt the predictions, but now it has come true I’m over the moon,” Robyn said at the handover.

Robyn supports many charities, but when she saw the brochure for Mater Prize Home lottery No. 260, she instantly fell in love with the home in Birtinya, Sunshine Coast, especially the rear alfresco and pool area; the Sydney apartment was an added bonus!

Robyn said that they might have to consider selling the Birtinya home as it’s a long way away from where their family is based, but the thought of owning two properties is just so foreign to her.

Robyn told us that she’s already bought her set of tickets for the next Mater Prize Home lottery.

“You have to be in it to win it,” she said.
