VIP holiday draw winner – Lucy Wonders
Perfect timing for Mater Prize Home VIP holiday draw winner
New parents, Lucy and Gus Wonders, were soon to be married but unfortunately couldn’t afford a much deserved honeymoon. That was until Mater Prize Home VIP member Lucy, received notice she was the lucky winner of an exclusive VIP member draw and a $5,000 holiday voucher.
“What amazing news! This comes just in time for us!”
At the time, Lucy and Gus Wonders were busy running their own family business, juggling a young baby, and Lucy’s recent return back to work. Although they were looking forward to celebrating a wedding with family and friends, the additional cost of taking a romantic honeymoon just wasn’t realistic. As most families know navigating life as new parents while managing work and family commitments can be particularly difficult.
“It was all a bit chaotic at our place with everything going on – we really needed a break and were well overdue for a holiday.”
“The timing of our win was just spectacular. It allowed us to have our first big family trip.”
Sensational prize; stunning holiday
Lucy chose to wind down to ‘Fiji time’ for their well-earned 10 day honeymoon holiday. Known as a family friendly destination with brilliant babysitting services, Fiji with its tropical islands and calm clear blue waters, seemed the perfect choice.
It meant all three of them could enjoy family time together away from the pressures of home life. And with a nanny service on hand the newlyweds could have time out to take in the romance of the island too.
“The prize was just fantastic. The babysitting facilities were great – we could really relax and enjoy ourselves. We did a couple of day trips to islands too and they were really amazing.”
“I never thought we’d win”
Even with a Mater Prize Home monthly VIP membership Lucy never really expected to win anything; it was more about supporting such a wonderful cause.
“It (the lottery) is such a great initiative. When deciding to join I thought if I’m going to enter something like this I’d rather it be with a charity like Mater Foundation; so I did it.”
Lucy specifically chose to support the Mater Prize Home lottery as a VIP Club member, as her regular ticket purchases would help to support patient care and the vital medical research happening now at Mater.
“My brother and his wife had a baby which spent time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). He was unfortunately born six weeks premature and was in there for three weeks. It was a really hard time for everyone but he is going great and is totally fine now thankfully. So when I saw this lottery was supporting the exceptional work being done at Mater, in particular the life-saving research into Mother’s and Babies health, I really wanted to be involved to help support the wonderful NICU service.”
When Lucy told family and friends of her VIP $5,000 holiday prize win they didn’t believe her.
“It took a while for them to actually believe me that I’d won.”
Well there is nothing like beautiful photos along stunning beaches to prove their holiday win. Lucy was so thankful of her unexpected prize and Mater Foundation are so pleased it went to a deserving family.
